2002-2003 Academic Year

Fall 2002

ENME 4023 - Intermediate Engineering Analysis
This course studies topics in linear algebra, vector analysis and tensor analysis with application to the derivation and solution of important linear and non-linear ordinary and partial differential equations occurring in mechanical engineering.

ENME 6097 - Aerospace Composite Structures I
This course studies basic Theorems and principles in the theory of structures (strain energy, virtual displacements, minimum total potential energy), general theory of beams bending (warping, shear flow in multi-flanged beams), general theory of torsion (shear center, multi-cell structures), plane stress problems, with application to design of aerospace structures made of composite materials.

ENME 6098 - Composites Manufacturing Principles I
Video Broadcast from NCAM to UNO
Introduction to composite materials, overview of composite manufacturing processes, general theory and underlying principles in short fiber composite manufacturing processes, long, continuous fiber composite manufacturing processes, advanced thermoplastic composite processing, advanced reactivate thermoset composite processing, pre-cursor materials, general theory of processing issues with thermoset and thermoplastic composite resin systems, Transport, physical and phenomenological issues in composite processing, genera theory of modeling and simulation approaches for composite processing, quality characterization.

ENMG 6130 - Management of Technology Change
Video Broadcast from NCAM to UNO
This course studies the emphasis on techniques that are useful in successfully introducing change in technical organizations. Also studied is the role of sponsors, advocates, targets, and agents. Change viewed as a process. Case studies are examined, when appropriate, but much of the learning is directed toward application of the principles of change to the students; organizations.

ENME 6771 - Conduction Heat Transfer
This course studies conduction heat transfer, steady state and transient system, one-dimensional, two-dimensional , and three-dimensional systems.

Spring 2003

ENME 6024 - Boundary Value Problems
A unified study of the techniques available for the solution of boundary value problems of the types found in advanced engineering analysis. Application will be made to representative problems from specific areas of engineering.

ENME 6095 - Composites Manufacturing Principles, II
Brief overview of composites manufacturing processes, transport equations for composite processing, constitutive laws and their characterization in composite processing, process modeling, assumptions and simplifications and simplifications in composite processing, process modeling developments, solutions for specific composite manufacturing processes with short fibers, continuous fibers, thermoplastic and reactive thermoset resin systems.

ENME 6364 - Advanced Composites Materials
Thermal and moisture effects on composite materials, stress state of composite beams under long term loading, viscoelestic displacement of beams, torsion of laminated beams. Optimum design of composite materials structures, mechanics of sandwich structures.

ENME 6773 - Radiation Heat Transfer
Radiative heat exchange among specularly and diffusely reflecting surfaces; radiant interchange in participating media; combined radiation, conduction, and convection; and advanced topics.

Summer 2003
