NCAM hosted the Spring Meeting of the Joint Defense Manufacturing Technology Panel (JDMTP) March 31-April 2 at the NCAM facility located on NASA Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF).

JDMTP is the Tri-Service/DLA panel that implements Department of Defense ManTech (manufacturing technology) policy and direction with the goal of improving the affordability of America 's weapon systems.

During their visit to NCAM, members of JDMTP toured the NCAM manufacturing area located at MAF where they saw the state-of-the-art technologies offered at NCAM. Panel members saw demonstrations of the Advanced Fiber Placement Machine and Friction Stir Weld machine. In addition, they viewed the new 5-Axis High Speed Machine Center that will be fully functional next month. These machines have the largest-capacity and are the most technologically advanced machines in their categories.

After touring the manufacturing areas, the JDMTP convened in NCAM's main offices for presentations. Subjects included NCAM's organizational structure, advanced manufacturing, educational components, and its role in emerging technologies. Additional presentations were given on composite technologies and metallics, thermal protection systems and propulsion technologies currently taking place at MAF.

"NCAM appreciates the opportunity to host the panel, and we look forward to assisting JDMTP in future activities," said Bruce Brailsford, Director of NCAM.
