UNO Moves to UL System

La. Gov. Bobby Jindal talks to local reporters moments after signing House Bill 537, transferring the University of New Orleans to the University of Louisiana System.

Governor Bobby Jindal signed House Bill 537 in a ceremony held on the University of New Orleans (UNO) Lakefront campus in the Homer L. Hitt Alumni Center on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 12, 2011.

The signing of this legislation is the first step in the process as UNO begins the initial steps to transfer from the Louisiana State University System to the University of Louisiana System. The process of several months will conclude upon the approval of the transfer by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The National Center for Advanced Manufacturing (NCAM) operates under the UNO College of Engineering.
